Ken "Dream Maker" Thomas founded the Buffalo Troopers Motorcycle Club of Chicago, in October 1994. The organization evolved from the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Chicago,  which Ken founded in October of 1993. He believed it was time to establish a modern progressive motorcycle club whose focus is to promote a positive image among African Americans that would be respected in the community and throughout the country. The name Buffalo Soldiers was initially selected to pay homage to and ensure the legacy of the African American soldiers contributions in the post Civil War era. That legacy would be carried forth by our membership. The New club was chartered as the Buffalo Troopers Motorcycle Club of Chicago for the 9th & 10th Horse Calvary Troops "Buffalo Soldiers".

The clubs popularity grew as members attended the national roundups and rallies held in various cities in the country. The interest from other individuals in the motorcycle riding community resulted in the first chapter being formed outside of Chicago, which was the Maryland chapter. Soon after Florida, Delaware, Virginia, and New Jersey became Buffalo Soldiers Chapters choosing to use the traditional name "Soldiers" but wearing the patch of the mother chapter Chicago.

In 1999, the clubs formed the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers/Troopers Motorcycle Clubs. As of today the NABS/TMC consists of seventy (70) chapters in thirty-four (34) states and two (2) countries. Our latest out of country chapters are located in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Amherst burg, Ontario.

The club is actively involved in recognizing the accomplishments and sacrifices of African Americans in our society. The NABS/TMC encourages a positive image and behavior of our members and believe that we are role models and share a responsibility to the community. Our membership accepts those men and women who share our values and support our cause. That cause, being not only to give back to our communities, but to our country as well.

So it is with this thought in mind that we say "The Buffalo Troopers-Celebrating the Past, Bridging the Future."
