  RACHAEL LACY was born on June 28th, 1980 to Moses and Ruby Lacy. She was the 2nd oldest of 5 children. She was a bright and ambitious young woman who knew what she wanted in life. Rachael had a smile and aura that seemed to just light up a room in her presence.

Rachael loved her parents and siblings dearly. She attended South Suburban College for nursing. During her studies she maintained her Honor roll status and earned an associates degree in nursing. Rachael served four years in the Army National Guard as a combat medic. Her unit was activated in February, 2003 for Operation Iraq Freedom. With God first and her family support, she was ready for the challenges that awaited her. While getting ready for deployment, her unit went through the vaccination phase of their readiness deployment. Rachael was given several vaccinations for deployment. One was the smallpox vaccination, which also caused her to have a fatal reaction. Spc Rachael Lacy received her shots on March 2nd 2003. She passed on April 4th, 2003 from her vaccinations. Her family and friends will sorely miss her and her love.
